Generation Resilience: First 10 Jewish Primary Schools Sign Up for Game-Changing JLGB Initiative

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

A powerful new programme launched by the Jewish Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade (JLGB) to mark its 130th anniversary has already been adopted by ten Jewish primary schools across the UK, as Generation Resilience prepares to roll out this October.

The initiative, created in response to the rising emotional and practical needs of young people, is funded by the UK government and delivered directly into schools  for Years 5 and 6. Its aim: to give children the confidence, resilience and life skills they need to thrive in an increasingly uncertain world.

“Today’s Jewish children are growing up in the shadow of anxiety — from Covid disruption and the cost-of-living crisis to the rise in antisemitism since October 7th,” said Neil Martin OBE, Chief Executive of JLGB.
“Generation Resilience ensures they don’t just cope — they grow stronger. It’s fun on the outside, but deeply purposeful at its core.”

What is Generation Resilience?

A weekly (lesson time, lunchtime or after-school) for pupils in Years 5 and 6, run by trained JLGB leaders and hosted in-school.
The programme offers:
•Confidence and resilience-building activities
•Practical life skills (teamwork, planning, communication)
•Creative expression through music, drama and design
•A strong focus on Jewish identity and British values
•A smooth, supported transition to secondary school with programmes also being launched for Year 7 in October in several Jewish secondary schools.

All at no cost to families or schools.

“To them it’s chocolate. To us, it’s milk.” – JLGB sums up its approach: real personal development, delivered through engaging and joyful experiences.

Pilot Success at at Sinai Jewish Primary School, will now see the programme expand at scale across the community with Jewish Primary schools including: Etz Chaim, Matilda Marks Kennedy, Hertsmere JPS, Wohl Ilford Jewish, Clore Tikva and Clore Shalom.
