JLGB Youth Leaders support Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace Garden Party
Eleven Jewish young leaders and volunteers had the honour of representing JLGB at the Prince of Wales’s 70th birthday Garden Party at Buckingham Palace alongside 100 members from the Youth United Network. They were VIP guests of the Prince and supported the event with special duties, which was attended by the newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Toni Levene, who is originally from Liverpool formed the guard of honour as the royal family entered the garden party.
JLGB Volunteer Leader, Toni Levene said:
"It was an absolute honour and privilege to represent JLGB along with all the other fantastic organisations from Youth United in the Guard of Honour yesterday. Standing on the steps of Buckingham Palace with the Royal family really was a once in a lifetime opportunity and something I will never forget."
JLGB Volunteer Leader, Dean Caplin said:
"It was an honour to represent JLGB and Youth United at such a prestigious event. My role on the day was to supervise the younger members from various other uniformed organisations who were policing the west terrace steps in preparation for the arrival of the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (as well as enjoying the tea on offer of course). All of our JLGB members who helped run the event were role models for all to see and should be proud of their achievements - we received such positive feedback from the Youth United leaders about them all. To assist with an event at Buckingham Palace just shows the importance of JLGB and the dedication we have in developing young leaders and role models for future generations."
JLGB Youth Leader, Harry Finestone said:
“I attended the event on behalf of my youth group, JLGB, who I have been part of for nearly 10 years. My role at the event was to collect guests’ tickets at the front gate of Buckingham Palace. It was a once in a life time experience as I was able to stand on the inside of the gate of the palace and speak to every single one of the 6,500 people who attended the event. Once the gates were closed I was able to join the crowds inside the garden of the palace and hear the newly wedded Price Harry give a speech about his father. I was then asked to stand as a guard of honour for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall to walk through to return from the Royal Tea Tent back up to the palace. Youth United did an amazing job of getting all of the youth groups together at the event and let us show Prince Charles that we really appreciate what he does for us.”
Roy Naor, one of JLGB’s Israeli Emissaries said:
“It was truly a breath-taking experience! We got to meet all kinds of important and interesting people - the highlight was when we met Prince Charles and talked with him about Israel and JLGB.”
JLGB Youth Leader, Ellie Palmer said:
“My experience at The Prince of Wales’ 70th Birthday event was inspiring and one I will never forget. The amount of guests who have changed the minds and lives of young people like myself was great and being able to speak to them was amazing. I was very proud to be representing JLGB and it will be a lifelong memory with me forever.”
We are very proud of our leaders and volunteers for their role at the garden party, they demonstrated the spirit of JLGB through their display of hard work, grace and decorum in the execution of their special duties.
