JLGB’s Youth United Hero Leaves Huge Legacy
This week JLGB is saying goodbye to its Core Activities Manager Ricky Kaplan, who, thanks to the Youth United Project, helped to engage over 500 young people to take part in weekly JLGB groups and exciting activities in their local area.
Through his hard work and dedication, Ricky has helped to establish a legacy of weekly groups that enrich, educate and inspire young people from ages 7-16 and put them on track to move forwards into the young leadership programme where they learn to develop more advanced leadership skills.
Ricky joined JLGB three years ago as a Programming and Recruitment Manager, however, as time has passed he has developed his own skills as well as the JLGB weekly groups, expanding them and making them more accessible. In the last 18 months alone, 500 young people have joined local weekly groups and are getting involved in exciting activities in their local area.
During his time at JLGB, Ricky has brought tremendous pride by dedicating his time to enhancing the foundations of the weekly activities groups. There has been phenomenal growth across the country with 15 new groups launching, including 9 Juniors groups most recently with the launch of new Bushey and Mill Hill Juniors groups.
Adam Shelley, JLGB Senior Volunteer Manager said:'When Ricky joined us, he brought in new ideas and has been influential in bringing in new members as well as standardising our recruitment and development processes. He leaves JLGB in a stronger place than when he joined and I wish him every success in the future and in his new job.'
On behalf of all at the JLGB, we thank Ricky for all of his hard work and we wish him the best in his new role at Diabetes UK.
Thanks to Ricky and the Youth United Project, the new, modern and exciting JLGB is the perfect place for young people to reach their potential and discover who they want to be through adventure activities, social action projects and leadership qualifications. Across the country, teenagers are building their CVs and becoming the best possible version of themselves.
