Jewish Teens Receive the Highest Youth Achievement Award from HRH
Excitement was in the air as a record number of DofE participants waited outside St. James's Palace to be greeted by HRH The Earl of Wessex for completing their Kosher Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with JLGB.
We are delighted to announce that, thanks to the support of the Pears Foundation, this year has seen a record number of young people complete their Gold DofE with JLGB. On Thursday 23rd March, 10 participants convened at St. James’ Palace to receive their Gold Awards. The recipients collected their awards from a selection of different celebrities and famous people including actor Hugo Speer, presenter and comedian Alexander Armstrong, gardener Alan Titchmarsh and Strictly Come Dancing Duo Kevin and Karen Clifton. HRH The Earl of Wessex also conversed with the young people about their experience and the adventures they had whilst taking part in DofE.
We would once again like to congratulate and convey our pride in the following young people who received their awards; Charlie Hillman, Stephanie Kaye, Sarena Phillips, Lawrence Rosenberg, Rachel Rabin, Jessica Fishman, Gregory Clark, Charlotte Selwyn, Sarah Wortman and Lara Kaye.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a challenge undertaken by hundreds of thousands of young people and to complete their Bronze DofE, the first level, is quite an achievement. To work your way up through the levels and eventually complete their Gold DofE takes years of commitment and dedication. In order to complete their Gold DofE, young people will have contributed hundreds of voluntary hours to their community, learned countless life skills and trekked hundreds of kilometers through some of the most challenging terrain the British Isles has to offer.
It has been a year to remember so far for JLGB, following on from February’s well documented Royal week in which we were graced by royalty 3 times in the space of 4 days. First Redbridge Band played at Buckingham Palace, we were then visited by HRH The Prince of Wales at Yavneh College and the week came to a climax as JLGB CEO Neil Martin received his OBE to top off a quite remarkable week. We are delighted to announce that the Royal connection doesn’t stop there as we are due to attend Buckingham Palace in May for an annual DofE Awards celebration.
