Redbridge JLGB Crowned Winners of JLGB’s London Competition
Redbridge JLGB has brought home the Banner Trophy, the most prized competition of the Jewish Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade in London. Borehamwood JLGB came second.
This year, the competition took place at Copthall School, Mill Hill and saw people from JLGB groups in Redbridge, Mill Hill, Borehamwood, Kingston, Woodford, Bushey, Barnet and more.
Young people from across London and Essex attended to compete against each other in four different sections based on the JLGB Core Skills. The weeks prior to the competition are spent preparing for every section to the best of each group’s ability. The sections are made to fit with the groups weekly activities so that it’s fun for everyone.
Dedicated young leader at Redbridge Band, Ellie Palmer (16) said: “Winning the Banner was so motivational and really shows that when you work hard for something, it pays off! It was not only an opportunity for Redbridge to show how hard they work throughout the year but also an opportunity for me to see my friends from all over London that I’ve made through JLGB.”
Linda Diamond, Redbridge Band Group Leader said: “This is the fourth time that we have won the Banner Competition and I am as delighted as the first time. All the members and the staff have worked hard and I am so proud of every single one. I’ve been at Redbridge Band for over 30 years and it never ceases to amaze me at how brilliant and dedicated every member and volunteer is.”
