UK Jewish Fun Run Arrives in Africa, Australia & Israel

Three fund raisers have raised the bar in the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run, by each taking the spectacle further afield than ever knowingly attempted.

The professional running track at Allianz Park proved too conventional for Tim Knott, Ellie Levine and Daniel Lever, who set off for Africa, Australia and Israel, to raise funds for their charities in the UK’s largest Jewish sporting fundraiser – JLGB and World Jewish Relief (WJR).

Tim Knott, a JLGB volunteer and known as the friendly face of the JLGB #DoYourBit campaign (featured in UK Jewish newspapers) ran 1k in the Kalahari Desert, 1k in the Namib desert – up the biggest sand dune in the world, finally ending at the top of Table Mountain.

Ellie Levine, a member of JLGB, ran the 1k, via the Sydney Opera House.

Daniel Lever, a leader of JLGB Israel Tour, ran the 10k through Jerusalem, via the narrow winding roads of the ancient old city.

Meanwhile, at Allianz Park, London, JLGB’s Climbing Wall and Badge Making in the Fun Zone, both proved a great hit. Runners at the event ranged from those who were new to their youth group, to those such as Michael Livingston, whose family has now been involved with JLGB for four generations.

Ellie Levine, said: “Taking part in the Fun Run not only meant that I was giving back to the community, but also giving back to an incredible organisation.”
