Over 200 members of the Jewish Lads’ & Girls’ Brigade  (JLGB) from groups in Hertfordshire, Middlesex, South London and Essex were present when a triumphant JLGB Redbridge Band, led by a delighted Linda Diamond, won The 2011 JLGB Banner Competition.

Linda Diamond said:  “This is the second time that we have won the Banner Competition and I am as delighted as the first time.  All the members and the staff have worked hard and I am so proud of every single one.”

The Banner Competition, which is the longest standing Jewish youth competition in the UK, is hotly contested every year when all JLGB groups in Greater London compete to be the best all round JLGB Group.

Event organiser, Nigel Shapiro said: “The JLGB members all gain a sense of pride and commitment to their group and their leaders, whether they win or lose.   This is also another chance for everyone to all get together and have a most enjoyable fun day”.

The runners up were Borehamwood with last year’s winners, Ilford Girls taking third place; JLGB groups from Bushey, Edgware, Hendon, Radlett, Ilford and Woodford also took part.

Redbridge Band will now compete against the winners of the Provincial Walton Trophy (including JLGB groups from Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff and Glasgow) for the National Ancill Trophy to be held in Manchester in March.
