Head of Programmes and Operations
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Contract: Full time with flexible working hours possible
Location: Hybrid working at the JLGB Office in London (E18) and at home.
JLGB are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Head of Programmes & Operations to be part of our Senior Leadership Team.
You will lead a dedicated team to oversee the safe and successful delivery of our high-quality youth programmes, including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and NCS. Leading the team, you will be an integral part of the operational management of all aspects of engagement, training and delivery of JLGB’s programmes to young people. Your role will be to run, maintain and improve the processes and systems that support the day to day of the organisation.
The successful candidate will be an effective leader and dynamic ambassador who is resourceful and highly organised. We are looking for someone with passion, commitment and the skills to drive forward our organisation to support young people.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead, motivate, support and inspire, creating a positive, performance driven team environment that meets the needs of young Jewish people across the UK.
- Working with the team on planning and scheduling to clarify priorities and ensure capacity management.
- Supporting the development and implementation of annual operational plans in line with JLGB’s new strategy.
- Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team, taking responsibility in the delivery of high quality and impactful programmes.
- Work alongside JLGB’s communications team to implement and deliver a retention and communications strategy to raise the level of completion rates across awards and accreditations.
- Work with the Chief Executive and report to trustees and funders on impact and delivery performance on a regular basis.
- Managing the recruitment, on-boarding and training processes for staff.
- Improve productivity and efficiency by establishing and overseeing systems and processes that allow for the smooth running of the office, charity operations and projects.
- Review, update and implement policies, processes and protocols, to support efficient and cost-effective delivery of the charity’s overall objectives.

Minimum 2 years’ experience of effectively managing operational functions across an organisation or team |
Experience working in the charity sector |
Experience of management within a complex environment with demonstrable evidence of strategic planning, managing and creative problem solving |
Personal experience of leading or taking part in volunteering or national youth awards such as DofE or NCS |
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to network and facilitate meetings and write guidance documents to a high standard. |
Experience of event planning and management |

Experience of youth work or volunteering and social action |
Build, maintain and facilitate effective working relationships with a wide range of external partners |
Full UK driving license. |

Please note this role will require additional evening and Sunday work.
