Why did you choose to become a Trustee for JLGB?
I chose to become a Trustee for JLGB because it has been part of my life and my family’s story for almost a century. JLGB is not just an organisation I support, it is where my parents met on camp many years ago, and quite literally the reason I am here today.
Having grown up with such a strong connection to JLGB, I have seen first-hand the impact it has across generations. Becoming a Trustee felt like a natural way to honour that legacy and to help ensure JLGB continues to create life-changing experiences for young people for many years to come.
Can you tell us a bit about your role outside of JLGB and what you bring to JLGB’s Board of Trustees?
I’m Assistant Headteacher at JCoSS, with 15 years’ experience of secondary education and residential trips, both foreign and domestic. I specialise in Safeguarding and support the professional team in ensuring the safety and security of our participants, members, volunteers and professional team.
What has been your favourite JLGB moment or proudest achievement as a Trustee?
My favourite JLGB moments are the lifelong friends I’ve made through my own participation and family’s connections to JLGB. My proudest achievement is the support that I’m privileged to be able to offer to the long-term sustainability of JLGB, along with the wider board and professional team. We are stewards of our beloved organisation supporting it for now and also doing all we can to make sure it’s still thriving in 100 years.
If you have a specific role as a trustee, what does your role involve?
As the trustee with oversight of Safeguarding, I am responsible for ensuring that we are looking after everyone properly, meeting our statutory obligations, as well as overseeing appropriate policies and processes.
