The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a nationally renowned charity that gives young people the opportunity to develop skills for work and life, to fulfil their potential and look forward to a bright future.
Since its inception in 1956, the JLGB has been the exclusive Jewish Operating Authority for the DofE and we have an outstanding track record of providing expedition training and assessment programmes that meet the religious and cultural needs of Jewish young people by removing all barriers that stand in the way of successfully completing the award.
We enrol and directly train over 700 young Jewish people each year and since we started, thousands have gone on to achieve their Gold, Silver and Bronze awards with us.
The DofE is getting more and more popular and due in part to our awareness campaigns, more and more young people from ultra-orthodox Jewish communities are taking part, particularly those who require single-gender, Kashrut and Shomer Shabbat provision.
The JLGB is committed to making sure anyone who wants to take part can take part and in addition to religious sensitivities, we also offer tremendous support to those young people with physical or learning disabilities who want to be a part of all that DofE offers.
