JLGB Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Coordinator

Salary: £18,000 - £23,000, dependant on age

Based: JLGB HQ - This opportunity will include field work across the UK.
At JLGB we focus on the individual and aim to recognise and enhance every young person’s potential, building their character to develop their leadership, communication, organisation, initiative, resilience, confidence and creativity. JLGB removes barriers so that all Jewish young people can participate in programmes and national volunteering awards recognised by universities and future employers, such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and National Citizen Service.
Since the Award was started in 1956, JLGB has been providing faith sensitive DofE to the Jewish community. We have an exceptional track record of providing training and assessments that meet the religious and cultural needs of over 800 young people each year.
JLGB is seeking to employ a coordinator to support the DofE team with the running of JLGB’s DofE provision. This will include inspiring young people in schools to take part in the award, and training them in preparation for their expeditions. You will also deliver expeditions, leading groups of young people between 14 and 18 years old over two or three day periods.
You will support the DofE team with the running and delivery of the world’s leading achievement award for young people, this will include:
- Increasing young people’s participation and completion of DofE
- Helping to deliver training sessions in schools and to youth groups
- Delivering overnight expeditions
- Equipment care and maintenance
The chosen candidates will be hard-working, enthusiastic and reliable. Full training will be given and no DofE experience is necessary, although it is preferable.

The chosen candidate will need to be sensitive to the needs of faith communities when working with JLGB’s young stakeholders and their families, and be respectful of their observance, dietary and practise needs.
Please note this role will require additional evening and Sunday work along with overnight camping throughout the expedition season.
