The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, or DofE, is the world's leading youth achievement award and the JLGB is immensely proud to say that since 1956, we have been the exclusive Jewish Licensed Organisation.
The award gives young people between the ages of 14 and 25 the most incredible opportunity to take part in a wonderfully flexible and diverse range of exciting activities, ideas and challenges that leads to a nationally-recognised Award which is highly prized by colleges, universities and employers (and can prove to be a key differentiator for admissions departments.)
Since 2008, the JLGB has directly trained over 3,000 young people (and countless tens of thousands since we started) and numbers are increasing every year. We can now offer the provision to all Jewish young people throughout the UK at all Jewish secondary schools, JLGB Open Groups, synagogues and youth and community groups.
We are also very proud to say that our provision now includes single-gender groups for ultra-orthodox schools and Yeshivas, and adapted programmes for those with physical or learning disabilities with Langdon College and Kisharon.
The DofE should not be underestimated as an outlet for new experiences, independence, a sense of achievement, self-confidence, leadership and teamwork skills and the chance to make new friends from all over the country.
