What does ‘doing your bit’ mean to you?

‘Doing my bit’ means making a difference to a young person’s life. Whether it is about helping at a weekly group or volunteering as a mentor, to coach and inspire the next generation of young leaders who are embarking on their own developmental journey. My commitment can go a long way – it can transform them, their families, and their communities. And there’s really nothing more motivating and inspiring than knowing your personal skills and effort can have that kind of impact.

What have you gained from JLGB?

I wouldn’t be the person I am today without JLGB. I met so many of my closest friends, from all over the UK, at camps and events growing up.  The skills and confidence I have gained as a leader, developed through my training and experiences over the years, whether I am driving forward a project at work or motivating a massive team as chair of Limmud Conference, I owe so much of it to JLGB.

Why should others volunteer?

It’s easy not to volunteer. We all have things to do in our busy work and personal lives. But giving to something like JLGB can make the world of difference. You’re able to help younger people grow, improve as leaders and support them when they’re applying to university, starting their careers, and, hopefully, continuing volunteering themselves. Knowing you’ve made a difference makes it all extremely worthwhile.

What You Can Do
