Over £2,000 has been raised to mark the 60th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. A group of JLGB DofE Leaders recently took on the challenge of climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland in under 24 hours. Our intrepid explorers Alex, Tim, Gregory, Sacha and Daniel were aided on their expedition by Matt Shine who took on the mammoth task of driving the boys between mountains in the allotted time. The team decided to take on this Diamond Challenge to raise money for JLGB DofE to allow the next generation of young people to gain leadership skills, independence and confidence and to ensure all those less fortunate can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award, giving millions of 14 – 24 year olds the opportunity to develop work-ready skills, and increase employment opportunities by gaining skills to add to their CV. JLGB runs a kosher and Shabbat friendly DofE provision that meets the religious and cultural needs of Jewish young people, removing all barriers for the successful completion of their award. This year, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is celebrating its Diamond (60th) anniversary. To mark this milestone, the organisation is encouraging people to undertake a personal challenge, and complete the DofE Diamond Challenge.

Dan Lever, JLGB’s London DofE Coordinator said;
“Doing the 3 peaks was a great experience, a real challenge but a lot of fun. I felt that I pushed myself to the limit but it was all worth it because we knew that taking part was enabling us to give back to the next generation of JLGB members”
